Our family is made up of Dave, and myself - Jen - and our three children Ayla, Alyona and Alanna. Ayla is 11 and Alyona is 2 and Alanna will soon be 1. Ayla is outgoing and outspoken and a keen fencer, swimmer and cyclist. She loves photography and baking. She is hoping for someone who will help her learn another language, preferably French, and who will play Sims and Skyrim with her. Alyona likes to be entertained and played with, she loves cooking in her toy kitchen and drawing. She can be a mummys girl at times so you will need to be patient while she gets to know you. Alyona goes to nursery twice a week so you will often need to get her ready and drop her off/pick her up. Alanna is a busy baby, who loves to be played with and entertained. She is learning to crawl just now, and you need to watch her like a hawk because she chews everything. Dave works Mon-Fri and I work a variety of shifts in a busy hospital so the days you work each week may change, but you will have at least one weekday off, almost all weekends off, as well as time to yourself in the evenings. We may ask you to do some evening or weekend babysitting for us on occasions. In our home you will have your own bedroom and a will share a bathroom with our eldest daughter. The main area of the house is open plan kitchen dining room which leads into the living room/lounge. We also have a second sitting room with TV, computer, games consoles WiFi etc which you can use if you wish. You will have use of the family car to take the children to activities.
As our au pair you will be responsible for looking after our youngest daughters Alyona and Alanna while we are at work. We anticipate you will participate in baby groups, going to the park and entertaining them indoors with various activities. Some cooking for the family will be involved. We expect you to be enthusiastic, polite and cheerful. Creative and artistic talents would also be welcomed! Occasional housework (general tidying, hanging up/folding laundry) will be required but will not be your main role. You will be expected to keep your own bedroom tidy. We are looking for someone trustworthy, kind and thoughtful to join our family. We expect that would would join our family around May/June, to allow you time to settle in with us and get used to the children and routine before I return to work full time in July. We would really like someone who is willing to stay for a minimum of 6 months or longer. Although previous au pair experience is not required some experience of living away from home and caring for younger children would be advantageous, as well as a lot of patience! I worked as an au pair when I was younger so I know how it feels to come to a strange family in a different country so we will try to make the experience as stress free and as fun as possible. I also know what I expect of an au pair and how not to treat you! You are joining us as part of the family, not as a kitchen maid or cleaner!! Our previous au pair from Italy was with us for 8 months and still stays locally and has agreed to be contacted if you wish further information.
