We are Nick, Sylwia and Lara. Lara is our daughter and she is aged 2 years and 2 months. Both Sylwia and I work full time. Sylwia is a management accountant and I am an international tax consultant. We work on average between 38 and 45 hours a week. We have recently moved into a new house which is located in a busy village and we have lovely countryside views from our back garden. It is only a 30 minute drive to the busy city of Bristol. We are also close to several good sized towns with lots of amenities and leisure facilities available. Both Sylwia and I commute by car to Bristol every day to work. We enjoy spending time together as a family and often we visit local parks, and places of historic interest to walk around and enjoy the fresh air. Lara is a very active and bright child. She already has excellent language skills and is able to articulate herself and can hold conversations with us. She is a very fast learner! Lara enjoys music and dancing very much as well as playing outside and with her play kitchen and play house which she keeps in a play room in the house. She likes helping around the house and particularly enjoys doing things that she sees us doing. Lara is currently in full time child care at two local nurseries however we are keen for Lara to have different experiences and an au pair will give us greater flexibility as we juggle work and life balances. Sylwia herself was an au pair to a family in the US for a year in 2002 and she is keen to give someone the opportunities she was given, to learn new cultures, languages and ways of life. We would want t
We are happy to share family days out with the au pair where appropriate and the au pair would certainly become a part of the family and be welcome to join family mealtime etc. Transport links from the village are a little limited at present so the au pair would be expected to have a drivers licence and we would provide the au pair with a car to use. This would most likely be an automatic. If needed we can pay for two driving sessions to help get use to drive in the UK. The au pair will have a car available to use and we will cover a fuel cost during working hours; any fuel during private use of a car will have to be covered by the au pair. The nearest train station is a 20 minute drive away and bus links to Bristol are limited so car transport is essential. One of the nurseries Lara is currently attending is within walking distance of our house. We live is a semi-detached house which has 4 bedrooms, three reception rooms and two bathrooms. We also have a reasonable sized garden which gives Lara lots of space for outside place. There is also a nice space for family bqs outside. The au pair will have their own good sized bedroom with a double bed and furniture including a TV. Wifi internet would be available to the au pair. The bedroom has a good sized window which looks out over the back garden and some nice views of the countryside beyond. At this stage we would like the au pair to drop Lara at nursery for an 08:00 start. We would also like the au pair to collect Lara from nursery at around 17:00. This would be for 2 to 3 days a week. For the remaining week we would like the au pair to have Lara for either 2 full days a week or two half days (or a combination). The au pair will not work more than 5 days a week. We can be flexible regarding which days Lara will spend in nursery to work around your language classes but we do require 1 month notice for this. We would like an au pair to also take Lara to activities such as swimming, soft play, dancing and other appropriate events. We would get home from work by 18:00 at the latest each day. At this stage we anticipate the au pair working for 30 hours in total (which would include some household chores mainly related to Lara – to be agreed). Evening babysitting would be minimal and would only be needed very occasionally. The au pair therefore will have most evenings to herself. The au pair would not be required to undertake any duties over the weekend other than some occasional baby-sitting.
