We are a fun busy Irish-French family and we live in a 5 bedroom house in South-West London. We have twin boys aged 7s, who are happy, friendly and well behaved. They love indoor/outdoor activities, are eager to learn new things and discover the world. The boys attend a private bilingual school in Parsons Green where they have many friends. We live in a lovely part of London - between Clapham and Wimbledon - which has lots of green parks near by. This is great if you like walking, running and cycling. Our house is in a quiet street just off the high street which has lots of shops and nice cafes. We are less than 3 minutes walk to the train station where trains run every 2-5 minutes to Central London within 12 minutes. We are a friendly, relaxed couple, with a lot of interests (cinema, music, museums, travel and history) and we regularly go away for weekends in the UK or France. We also have a huge DVD collection & digital video on demand available for all the family. We have had nannies and au-pairs living with us since January 2010 and we have always made them feel part of our family. We are more than happy for you to speak to our current au pair about us. We also have 5 very spoiled Cats, so you must like cats! We are looking for a self-starter and someone who is going to be extremely organised. This is very important as we are a busy and active household. This position is an au-pair plus position so will be for 35 hours per week – though you will not always work those hours. We are ideally looking for someone with experience in looking after Children.
Your main responsibilities will include: Taking the children home from school each day – on certain days the boys have activities after school and their school day will end later (4:30), and you will also be required to take them to Music which is local to our house once a week. You will be free until this time most days – however we do expect you to organise your tasks so that when you go to pick the boys up you are able to devote the after school hours to them. On occasions when one of us travels, it may also be necessary to take the children to school in the morning. Assist with their homework on a nightly basis - homework is given by their school and we are looking for someone who will not only be able to ensure the boys do their homework but also able to help them to progress through reading and other forms of learning. We are also looking for our new au pair to be able to help the children develop their learning on a daily basis, we as parents can help you with this but you will have to be willing to do it. You must have a strong interest in education and helping young children to learn through various formats. Cook healthy meals for the boys each night and the family on certain nights of the week – we all eat the same food so it does not mean preparing specific meals for us or the boys. Inform us on what foods / Groceries we need to buy when running low and on occasions do small amounts of shopping. You can tell us what particular foods you like and they will be bought for you. As the kitchen is the family communal area, as expect everyone who uses it to assist in keeping it tidy daily. You will need to ensure the boys school uniforms and all other clothes are washed, ironed and stored in their bedroom and that their bed linen is changed on a regular basis. Their bedroom and playroom will have to be kept orderly and tidy, though we would expect that you ensure the boys do this. You will have your own double bedroom (with a double bed and plenty of storage – this is on the first floor with the playroom – the boys bedroom and a bathroom you will share only with the boys). You will be expected to keep your own bedroom and bathroom clean and tidy. It is very important for this individual to be a mature and highly organised and be able to manage their responsibilities throughout the week. We are a busy household and are looking for an individual who will be able to fit in to the lifestyle of the family, see things which need to be done and do them. There may be some babysitting, but this will not be often. We travel a lot – so when we are away, you are free to do what you want but must be prepared to feed and provide water for our cats. We can also recommend friends for babysitting – so you will be able to earn extra money
