We are a young happy family of four, 1 girl (3.5yrs) and a boy (9mths) looking for a warm, responsible and capable Au pair to join us. You will be joining a caring, easy- going family. I am from New Zealand, and my husband is English, so already we have quite diverse cultural upbringings, as well as having spent many years living in other countries. We can confidently say we are sympathetic to the needs of someone starting out in a foreign country and can be supportive as well as embracive of the cultural differences you bring to our family. We live in the countryside, 1 mile from a pretty village where our daughter attends pre-school and there are 2 pubs, a general store and post office. The village hosts many community lead activities for families and is very welcoming. Our closest city Exeter (7 miles) is a short drive or bus journey and has all the amenities of a large city including a university, language schools, restaurants, high street shops & entertainment.
My husband and I own and run 2 businesses and combine working at home with a commute once/twice a week to Bristol. I am currently working part-time while my boy is still very young, however, I’m in much need of someone who can take my son off me for a good part of the day so I can work more efficiently. My daughter attends pre-school so school drop-offs and pick-ups (if you have a driving license/not essential) as well as extra-curricular activities form part of the Au pair responsibilities, along with helping out at meal & bath times. In exchange for 25-35hrs per week plus occasional babysitting you will receive a personal allowance of £80-100/wk (dependent on hours). You will have your own large double room with internet and tv and share a family sized bathroom with the kids. It would be helpful if you hold a current drivers licence but not essential. You are not expected to cook or clean, other than help towards keeping the house tidy, particularly play areas, meal and bath times, and being responsible for your own room and laundry. However, it is helpful if you have some knowledge of sensible eating for the children as you will have to prepare after school snacks, and have some authority over what foods they eat. As a family we enjoy the outdoors, food & wine, travelling and other cultures. We generally like to keep fit and healthy, and enjoy cooking and eating together. Similarly, the ideal Au pair would enjoy nutritious varied meals made with fresh produce and be open to food from all parts of the world. Someone who is happy, positive and enjoys reading, puzzles and generally playing with children is a must. An enjoyment of the outdoors and animals is also beneficial. Our 3.5yr old daughter is lively and gregarious, she has a great sense of humour but can also demand a more patient, calming influence from an Au pair. Our 9 mth old boy is very smiley and easy going. We are looking for someone to start from mid March, and commit to a minimum of 6 months with the intention of staying for longer. If you are interested please respond with as much information as possible including a recent photo, CV, references and a letter outlining who you are, and what interests you.
