We're a friendly family with two young boys, aged 2 and 5. We both work full time during the week (Tony sometimes works away from home) and spend most weekends exploring the Lake District or taking the kids to soft play / castles / museums etc. We're looking for someone friendly and easy going to help look after the children at busy times of the day. We live on the edge of the Lake District, which is a beautiful part of Northern England, so the role might suit someone who likes being outdoors. The local town is pretty, with a range of shops and cafes. There are also gyms, sports clubs, a dry slope ski centre and climbing wall in town, and the Brewery Arts Centre, with cinema, theatre and a range of art classes. We're around a mile from the centre of town - so a short walk or cycle ride - and there is a bus stop right outside our house. We're also close to a mainline train station so if you want to explore the UK at weekends that will be easy to arrange. Manchester is about 90 minutes by train, London and Edinburgh are both around 2 hours 30 minutes away.
We would like to find someone who could get the children ready for school/nursery three mornings a week and take them there on foot or by bus (school is around a mile away and nursery is another half mile from there). We would also prefer it if you could babysit two evenings a week (from 6.30pm to 8.30pm while I go to the gym) and to do some light housework. Most afternoons and all weekends will be completely your own, but you will of course be welcome to join us on days out if you wish to. You will have your own bedroom, with bed, desk, wardrobe and bookshelf. We have internet access, Netflix, Sky TV etc. You will be welcome to use all family areas and we will provide food for all meals. We can provide you with a tablet computer if you don't bring your own. It might be possible for you to use a car at weekends, but this will depend on insurance etc. We believe the local college offers English lessons and will check that if it is something you want to arrange.
