Personal introduction

We are a family of four looking for an au pair with lots of energy to take care of our two children when we go to work. Both mum and dad work full-time. We have hosted 2 amazing au pairs so far and have had very good experiences. We are still in touch with both of them. Flossie is our talkative 4 year old daughter who loves ballet and climbing trees. She has a 2.5 year old brother, Ben, who loves kicking a ball around, singing and dancing (not all at the same time). We also have a lovely labradoodle, Woody, who needs to be walked every day. He loves stealing food and chasing squirrels. Due to the nature of Daddy's work, he may start later on some days. Mummy has the odd day off and likes to surprise the au pair by telling them they have a day off during the week. We hope to find an au pair who enjoys being with children and one large dog.

The Au pair's job

You need to help get the kids out of bed, dressed, fed and out of the house by 0830 every morning. You will have to take Flossie to school on the bus. Ben will have to follow you too. School starts at 0900 for Flossie. After that, you will need to come home, take Ben and the Woody (the dog) to the park and then leave Woody at home before leaving at 1230 to pick Flossie up from school. After school you can return home or go to the playground. Sometimes, some of Flossie's classmates go to the playground too. Of course you must always remember to pack lunch/snacks for the children. There is nothing worse than hungry children! Flossie and Ben can play or do various activties for the rest of the day, stopping for a snack at around 1500 in the afternoon. Before dinner, you will need to encourage the children to put all their toys away. There will usually be toys all over the house! In the living/dining/bed rooms. Somtimes even in the bathroom/toilet/klitchen/garden...It is toy hunting and putting away time. The children should be fed at around 1800 and then washed, read a story, and put to bed. On Tuesday mornings, Daddy is around and will do most things. It would be good if you helped a little bit. We would prefer an au pair who hangs out with us a little bit. We do not need you to be there all the time but we did enjoy chatting to our previous two au pairs and getting to know them. We have a cleaner who comes twice a week so apart from doing a few dishes and wiping the tables the children use, there is no need to do any other daily cleaning. We would appreciate your assistance with hanging out the family's laundry and folding and putting away the children's clothes. You will have all weekends and UK (and some Australian) public holidays off, plus some random days off. On certain weekday evenings, both Daddy and Mummy may need to go out and we may need you to babysit. Occasionally we may need you to babysit on weekends (usually in the evenings) for which we will pay you.
