Personal introduction

Are you the right person to come and join our family at the end of August 2016? We are looking for someone absolutely trustworthy and kind, who is patient with the children and will take time to get to know them. Are you relaxed and easy going (our family can be noisy!)? Do you like cats (we have two) ? Are you helpful, considerate and proactive? If the answer is yes to all these things then send me a message. If we like each other and choose each other - you will be our fourth au pair - each other au pair has stayed with us for a year. Please take time to read this profile before you respond and don't be afraid to ask questions. I would like to learn about "who" you are. If we talk and like each other, I am sure my current Au Pair, Ainara, will also be happy to answer your questions about what it is like to live with and work for us.

The Au pair's job

We have had au pairs for the past 3 years now. We know how great it can be and also know the kind of friendly, helpful young woman who we are looking for. Our last three au pairs have been Spanish but that does not mean you have to be Spanish to apply. We have employed lots of people before, I think we are very fair employers. If you do extra work I will pay you extra - but what I need to know from you is that you are a helpful and considerate person who is prepared to "help out" with running the household. Being considerate and helpful are very important qualities for an au pair. We have a large house in zone 2 south east London (that means quite central!), close to buses and the train - so you can get everywhere you need to. You will have your own small room (overlooking the garden). We will pay you £120 a week as a "basic" (paid monthly into your bank account) and pay you extra money for any extra work (I usually do this about once a month). We will also pay for your mobile phone and you will have a wifi connection in your room. In terms of tasks, you will: - help me before school in the mornings eg feeding the girls breakfast and doing their hair, helping tidy the kitchen, I will usually take them to school myself unless I need to be in work early – on those days I will ask you to take Isa to school – just a 5 minute walk away from our house. Isa starts school at 9am. Scarlett will start senior school earlier and will get herself there but she will need help remembering all the right things to pack every day. Every day you will need to pick Isa up from school at 3.15pm (punctuality is very important!!) and bring her home and wait for Scarlett to get home. You will look after the children until about 7- 730pm although Steve is often working from home and might take over from you earlier. The girls do have clubs and I do need your help with those. On two days (currently Tuesday and Friday) you will take the girls to ballet lessons. On Thursday at the moment I take the girls to swimming at 7.30pm so it would be great if you could feed the girls early before then. Sometimes the girls will have after-school clubs too. The timings of clubs can change a lot so we need to be flexible about those. . If you like cooking then great but I usually prepare food in the morning so I won’t expect you to cook every day. I will however ask you to help get the dinner on the table for 7.30pm eg making the rice, vegetables, setting the table etc). We all eat together every night. When the girls are home after school, you will supervise their homework. You are an adult and therefore I will expect you to help around the house just like I would expect any adult to help eg, light tidying, helping with dishes, sometimes making breakfast, some cooking, feeding the cats etc. You will be expected to help me daily with hanging out washing and folding it With 5 people in the house this is one of the most important jobs I need help with. I work really hard and so I do like to have a bit of help - as I get exhausted! But I won't ask you to do "heavy cleaning" - I pay a cleaner to do that separately once a week. Sometimes I would want you to look after the children
