Personal introduction

Hello au pairs. We hope that you will consider living with us to help look after our kids and help with some light house-work - our goal is to make you feel part of the family and talk a lot with you in English (if you want to improve your English). Both parents work full time. We have a great lady who cleans the house once a week (you would not be expected to do this but expected to just tidy up as listed below) and we also have a gardener. We are looking for an experienced au pair (or someone trained in childcare) to carry out the duties described below. The pay is £100 per week with £100 staying on bonus paid every four months. We pay for all of your food eaten at home (you are expected to eat what the family eats - healthy meals) and you have your own recently refurbished double room, with cable TV, and lovely views over green fields. 20 days paid holiday a year and paid public holidays. Tell us what you want us to buy you re: snack, meals and we will get it for you paid by us. You should be an experienced an au pair, (or with childcare training) who understands that this job is responsible and use your own initiative to do your job. If you think you will be bored during the day, you must be prepared to do some research into courses and social activities you can do during the day - there are lots of colleges in the area we live in and we are easily accessible to Central London. Note - our 4 year old daughter, Talulah, is lovely and affectionate, but can is very strong minded and is doing well academically (she would need your support with homework after school pi

The Au pair's job

Example daily routine - take baby monitor at night and attend to Leo at night (who rarely wakes up at night) - Leo usually gets up at 6:30 am - get him dressed and give him milk - Nadia takes Leo to the childminder at 7am - you'd get Tallulah ready for school (changed and give her breakfast) then leave for school at 7:45am (you drive her to school - ten minutes away) - you'd tidy up after breakfast and do the laundry - you'd make dinner before you pick Tallulah up - pick Tallulah up from school at 3:30 pm - take Tallulah to an after school activities - do homework with Tallulah - lay the table for the family dinner (with you of course) - Nadia and Leo get home around 6pm - give the kids a bath on Monday, Wednesday and Friday - tidy up after dinner - water the outdoor plants (not during winter) - babysit one night a week - empty the dish washer usually every other day - look after the kids one morning at the weekend until 9am (on an ad hoc basis - we have a cleaner and gardener but would expect some light housework during the day eg tidying up toys, tidy up after dinner and breakfast and the laundry. You would also liaise with the cleaner and gardener regarding when they come to the house - your weekends are free to yourself as are everyday between 9am and 3pm (though you will be required to make dinner and do the laundry during these times) but we strongly recommend that you find something to keep you busy during the day, otherwise, you will get bored... - we have a dryer (for the laundry) Sometimes, you'd be required to drive Nadia to work (15 minutes away) and drop Leo at the childminder (by Nadia's work) then come home and take Tallulah to school (Jack would get her ready). This will apply where Nadia is going out in the evening or Nadia is travelling for work (which is very rare but does happen a couple of times a year for a few days). If you do any work over and above this, we do pay extra. Some local mums may also want to give you some baby sitting work at £7 an hour. The area we live in We live in Pinner - zone 6. The nearest station is Hatch End (overground) and Pinner station is a 25 minute walk away There is a gym in North Harrow that charges around £18 a month - you can use the car to drive there or Nadia's bike There is a pool in Hatch End (15 minute walk from the house) and next to it is a Doctor's surgery which you can join We have a five double bed house which backs onto beautiful fields with cows in them You would drive a VW Golf. You can use it for personal use (in the local area only) if you pay for petrol. There is an adult college in Watford (3 stops on the train) offering a wide range of courses (West Herts College) and also many adult colleges in Central London. Car insurance excess If you have an accident when driving, and it's your fault, you would have to accept responsibility and pay the insurance excess
