We are a fun family of four living in Aston Abbotts near Aylesbury and looking for a female au pair, aged 21 and over, to look after our children (aged 5 and 4), starting asap for an initial 3 month contract which may be extended. We need someone for about 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday), with 1-2 nights babysitting per week. Experience working with children is essential as you will be in sole charge of both household and children for periods of up to a week alone when we are away on business. We will ask for references. We are a busy, working family with a caring and positive outlook and an emphasis on having fun! We have 2 happy, cheeky girls who are enthusiastic about almost everything. They are confident and engaging, and love ballet, music, crafting and princesses. They get on together really well and aside from the usual squabbles, they are best friends.
This is a live in position, with a weekly wage, for an au pair with English as a first language (for example those from Australia, New Zealand, Canada etc.), or those with an excellent level of English. As both of our daughters are at an age where learning language is very important, we would encourage you to get involved in their schooling, especially reading books to them and encouraging them to read to you. We are looking for someone who loves children, is kind and considerate, has a sense of humour, and a good sense of responsibility. We would like you to have at least 1 year of au pair experience as well as be an able and confident driver on the UK roads. We run a very organised household and would require the au pair to be a likeminded person to fit into our family mould – Mom is a bit of a perfectionist so be prepared to make sure everything is put away and tidy at the end of a day! We employ a cleaner once a week, so you would not be required to clean the house, but we would expect you to do light household duties eg: packing the dishwasher and ironing the kids school clothes. Some international travel with the family may also be required.
