We are a family of three living in England. We moved here from our country of origin, Finland, in July 2014. I am a distance learning Master's student in occupational therapy. My husband is a teacher of Maths and he still works in Finland, commuting between two countries to spend as many days with us as possible. We are planning to move form our current town to London during summer, to live closer to Heathrow Airport and university libraries I need to use for my studies. Our son is an imaginative, bright 2-year-old. He is shy, so usually it takes a moment from him to get used to new people. When he has regarded you as dear to him, he does not change his opinion. We are looking for a person who loves to spend time with a little child. We appreciate the element of cultural exchange in the au pair experience, and hope to find a person who is interested in contributing to our family and making friends with us all. Naturally we do respect your own spare time and give you total freedom to spend your time off work the way which is most desirable for you and helps you go on with everyday life. We need our au pair to be native / very fluent English-speaker, because both of us parents have Finnish as our main language. We enjoy spending time outdoors and it is important that our au pair is also comfortable spending time outside when taking care of our child.
Between September and December: - 6 hours a day from Monday to Friday (9am-3pm) - Taking good care of our little boy while Mom is in the library working on her studies - Main activities with our boy include taking him outside to play in the park in the morning, having lunch with him, taking care of his naptime and having a snack with him. Between January and May: Our son will attend a pre-school at least for 15 hours a week. If Mom has found a job we will likely need to take more nursery hours for him, depending on how many hours our au pair is willing to take. On nursery / pre-school days au pair's duty would be to drop our son in and pick him up from the nursery (by public transportation, we do not have a car), and spend 1-2 hours with him afterwards. It is possible Mom will in any case have some more postgraduate studies to do during the spring, which would mean that outside the nursery days, between Monday and Friday, the au pair would do around 6 hours of childcare. If Mom is studying and not working, it is likely that she would take care of the drop-ins and pick-ups on nursery days, and there would be 2-3 days with 6 hours to do for the au pair.
