Personal introduction

We are a family of 5. Life is busy but fun. Eddie is 14 years old. He is fairly independent. He goes to secondary school by bus and has school homework to do each night . Jack is 9yrs and Kitty is 8yrs. They both go to the same school which is about a 5 minute drive away. Eddie loves sport. Eddie & Jack play for a football teams and so we are often out at separate football matches each Sunday! Kitty loves to do gymnastics. She also likes to dance, sing, read and loves Taylor Swift. She is an innocent loving 8yr old. We live in a large house just 5 minutes walk from the town centre which has lots of restaurants, bars and shops. There is a sports centre just 2mins walk away, a park 5 mins. There are a few language schools nearby. So if you want to learn English is it easy to find evening classes. If you are someone who enjoys hobbies and meeting people then our house is in a perfect location. You have your own room with TV, CD player etc. Richard works for a National Newspaper, I work for a company called Centaur Media. We both work Monday to Friday and need you to help get Jack and Kitty to school for 8.45am. You will need to be a qualified and confident driver it is too far to walk to school but is just a 5 minute journey by car. I return from work at 18.30, so we need your help in the afternoon as well. To pick up Jack and Kitty from school at 15.15 and be with them until I get back home. You will need to take them to after-school clubs in the car: eg. football, gymnastics and to help them with simple homework once each week.

The Au pair's job

Your job is Monday to Friday, approximately 6 hrs each day. The evenings and weekends are free. On occasion we will ask you to babysit for an evening. The job is essentially to help with the children and give them a good time, to be their guardian and friend, like an aunt. Each morning we all have breakfast, get washed and get dressed together. Then Richard and I leave the house for work and your role is to help prepare Jack and Kitty for school and then drive them there. We also want you to help the children grow. Like any children, they can be good at times and more difficult at other times. We need someone who is able to be strong with them when needed and also be a friend to them. We want our au-pair to be a sensible and responsible person but also someone who naturally smiles rather than frowns and can make the children smile during her time with them. We want you to be the sort of person who is proactive in keeping the children stimulated rather than simply let time pass by with them. Finally, for about an hour each day we ask that you do some light housework. : EG ironing the children's clothes (I iron Richard and my clothes), dusting, hoovering etc
