I am a single mum with 2 lovely children and I am looking for an au pair to join our family to provide a loving, supportive and fun environment for my children. I work as a Physiotherapy lecturer in Glasgow and as an independent researcher at a local University. My daughter Claire (6) is an enthusiastic, outgoing, imaginative and creative girl who likes to dance and play all day long. She enjoys ballet classes, swimming lessons and is desperate to start singing lessons. Arran (1) has just turned one and loves to explore anything in the house and the garden. He is a very loving boy and has a lovely sense of humour. I am originally from the Netherlands, but we currently only speak English at home. We do however have lots of Dutch family traditions and I am looking for a Dutch speaking au pair who can help the children learn some Dutch, while improving her own English.
I am looking for someone who is enthusiastic and enjoys playing and spending time with children, and making sure that they are looked after in a fun but safe way, while I work 4 days a week (Monday-Thursday). A working day would be from 7am-5pm for 3 of these days and 8am-4pm for one day. You will have a 3-day weekend to explore Scotland or join in with family activities if you wish. The main duties include making sure that my eldest girl Claire gets up in the morning and is walked to and from school during the week, while looking after my one year old boy Arran while Claire is at school. Arran likes to be outside and interact with other children and I plan for him to go to forest school which is in the local park twice a week, and the local toddler group in Alloway. As a member of the family you would share light household duties, including keeping the children's rooms tidy, providing meals and snacks for the children during the day, and keeping the living areas reasonably tidy. Once or twice a month you will be asked to babysit in the evening. One weekend a month, I attend a retreat for my work and you would look after the children in the hotel where this takes place (meals would be provided).
