We are a professional academic family (2 university professors) living in a large house in a lovely street in York, close to the historic centre. The mother has a Visiting Professorship in the USA September to December 2015. The father, Professor in London, works in London three days a week. We are looking for a Nanny who can take responsibility for the household when both parents are away, who is used to dealing with a teenage boy, and who is entirely reliable and responsible. You will have a large bedroom with a bathroom down the corridor. Our son is a sensible boy who is good at school, enjoys chess, science, swimming, tennis, cycling, reading, playing with friends, clarinet, piano, politics and philosophy.
We would expect you to assume sole responsibility for caring for our 14 year old son 3 days a week, while his father is in London and his mother in the USA. This involves supervising homework, preparing meals (our son can do some cooking, washing up, etc), shopping and general supervision, including supervising bedtimes, getting him up in the morning and getting him to school on time. The rest of the week, his father will be back home in York and will take charge, though your assistance with light domestic tasks would be helpful. You will be free from childcare responsibilities between 9.00 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. every day. You will need experience of childcare, to have a police check, relevant excellent references, and references from a former childcare placement.
