Personal introduction

My husband and I own and run a restaurant in our town. We work really hard but the children are our number one priority so our aupair will be there to support us rather than look after the children on her own. Our hours are mostly at lunchtime and evenings so that\'s when the aupair will be working too! Our daughter is four. She is amazing. She is determined, strong-willed, passionate and loving. She talks all the time and says the funniest things like all four year olds do. Our son is almost three. He is super cute! Very cuddly, more laid-back than his sister, but purposeful and full of wonder about the world. Chris, my husband is very relaxed, happy to watch football and drink a beer and generally have a laugh. Chris would describe me as untidy and disorganised! Which is probably right; but tea, biscuits and the paddling pool or swimming pool is how I like to spend my afternoons! What we need from our aupair: energy, energy, energy, laughter, initiative and independence. Our chldren are young and move quickly from activity to activity so you must too! We laugh a lot and also, a sense of humour goes a long way when the children are having a bad day Initiative in planning games, distracting the children if they are upset, diversions when they want something they can\'t have etc You will be on your own in the evenings while the children are sleeping so you need to enjoy your own company!

The Au pair's job

Typical day We get up about 7.30 with the kids. 4 days a week they go to school for 9am; if not we go to the park or do something together. Our aupair doesn\'t need to work the mornings but our aupairs have tended to hang out with us anyway which we love. We go to work at 11am so if the children are at home our aupair takes over and gives them lunch(which I have already prepared) and then puts our son to bed for a nap. He sleeps for 1-2 hours and his sister has some quiet time. We come home in the afternoon and when its warm we play in the pool and on the terrace as a family. We go to work at 6 or 7 pm. Our aupair finishes bathtime and bedtime. The children sleep around 8pm. We get home late but you don\'t have to wait up for us! You can go to bed whenever you like! We have wifi at the house, free european calls and a million DVDs so your evenings are for relaxing once you\'ve tidied up after the children. Our feet rarely touch the ground and we need someone who can bounce along at the same speed as us. We have a dog and a cat. They are both very friendly but our dog is large. Anyone who loves dog-walking will get gold stars from us and a new four-legged friend. We are a relaxed family that laughs a lot and the children are our number one priority. We are a busy, active family - always on the go so we need an aupair who is energetic, motivated and who jumps out of bed every morning ready to go!
