You need to be very self-motivated - ideally already had experience of being an au pair. That's because our children are older so you have all day, every day free for studying, working and seeing friends etc. However, if you could get bored as there is nothing to do during the daytime. My daughter is 12, so you need to be there for her some evenings but it's not 'babysitting' - more about being a companion to her.
We are a relaxed, friendly family and we enjoy having someone from a different culture living in our home. As our children are older, the job is mainly keeping the house clean and tidy, washing, ironing, some cooking and providing companionship for our daughter occasionally when we are out during the evening. Your pocket money will be £70 per week plus £10 per week if you go to college. (Total £80 per week)
