My name is Kate, and my husband Adrian and I live in Kingston, Queensland, Australia, with our baby, Theodore, and our dog, Lucius. Adrian is Romanian, and we are especially hoping to welcome someone who can bring the Romanian language and culture into our home in order for Theodore to be surrounded by it. Our home is in a very convenient location — the train station is directly across the road, which makes travel incredibly easy. In just 30 minutes you can be in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD, and the Gold Coast is also very accessible for weekend trips to the beach. Kingston itself is a family-friendly area, with parks, shops, and everything you might need close by. We are looking forward to welcoming someone who will not only help us with childcare but also become part of our family. Our family is small but lively! Our 4-month-old baby is fun and developing a very cool little personality. We are a little nerdy — Kate loves to garden, Adrian enjoys playing in card tournaments, and together we like board games, video games, and binge-watching TV shows. Every Sunday, we attend church as a family. We also share our home with Lucius, our friendly 8-year-old medium sized dog, who is a big part of our family. He is an inside dog but very well trained.
We are looking for an au pair to provide supported childcare while we work from home. Kate works four days per week, and Adrian works one day per week, so during those times we need someone to look after our baby. Your main role will be childcare but will never need to be alone with our baby, and we also ask for some light housework (such as tidying, laundry, or dishes), but nothing extensive. Hours: 30–40 per week Schedule: Weekends and evenings are free Preferred language: Romanian — we would love for our baby to hear and learn Romanian from you! Allowance: An amount agreed with the right candidate. Ideal Person: Adventurous, kind, engaging, tidy, understands the importance of child safety and child development. You will have your own private bedroom with a double bed, wardrobe, and plenty of space to make it feel like home. The bathroom is shared but includes a separate toilet for convenience. You will also have access to our manual (stick shift) car for use at night or on weekends, so you’ll be free to explore the area in your downtime.
