Personal introduction

Dear Au Pair, The main things we need help with is having an adult present in the morning before school, walking Adam (who will turn 7 in December) to and from school (800 metres away), making dinner on week nights/helping with homework/ after school activities and babysitting up to twice a week (this is often on a week night). We are an open and warm English/Norwegian family with 3 young boys. We live in a lovely affluent town called Solihull, just outside Birmingham (UK´s second largest city) in the middle of England. We are: Adam (6) Noah (11) Martin (14), Daddy Mark (Computer consultant) and mummy Gina (who came to the UK as an au pair 27 years ago, but since has become a Clinical Psychologist). We are genuinely interested in you, your interests and welfare and are looking for someone who has the same level of engagement and interest in the children. In our family people matter most, with knowledge/education as a close second priority. Mark (dad) and I (mum) view the main job of us adults (of which you will be one) to focus on facilitating the children and being good role models. We are looking for a warm person who enjoys human relationships and wants to teach/share their skills/stories/language/time with the children and us. Last year we moved into a lovely modern and spacious family home in a green and pleasant area. We are able to offer you a large bedroom with a modern en suite bathroom. There is a local train line that can take you into Solihull (10 min), Birmingham centre (20 min) and London (1 hr 40 min). We are confident that you will have a great ti

The Au pair's job

With us you will join a family with a busy life. Both mum and dad work (mum only part time) and the boys have many activities. In addition there is the family pet dog, a super cute Cavachon (King Charles Cavalier x Bichon Frise) called Thorin. We love films and have a cinema with a 3 by 2 metre screen. We have a good collection of children's and other films. We greatly value the skills of being able to play an instrument and amongst us we are learning the violin, the cello, drums and guitar. We also have a piano. We enjoy live theatre. As a family we value literature and have an extensive English/Norwegian library and some French and German children's literature. Adam (6) is our lucky charm and will become your main responsibility. He is very affectionate and sociable. He loves singing and being read to, playing with balls, and going for walks in the local park. He has started to learn to swim, plays football and goes to Beavers (young Scouts). He adores his brothers and wants to be part of all family activities. He will be starting year 2 at school and needs you to take him there in the morning and pick him up again at about 15:25. He will be getting regular reading homework, weekly spellings and maths. We will do his homework with him, but would like you to help us by also being able to do his homework with him.
