We're a very active family who enjoy the outdoors - bike trips, surfing, and son is crazy about football. We're pretty relaxed people, but keen that the kids are well supervised and have constructive downtime after school and eat healthy meals. We will both be working full time from Easter, and so exploring au pair options for the first time. Au pair should be fun, self sufficient, constructive with kids, worldly, and able to adapt and be flexible. Driving license required (permitted for UK). You ideally have own car Fluent English spoken, Spanish a nice to have
We have a great spare room which overlooks a fantastic surfing beach in Cornwall, which should make the job a pretty nice option as summer approaches. The main remit is to provide support during school term time in the afternoon from 3.15pm to ~ 6pm + when we return home i.e. - pick up son from school first (by foot or car) and slightly later pick up daughter from nursery - provide entertainment / supervise at home or on beach etc - facilitate play dates, or drive and pick up from afternoon clubs. Prepare and give kids tea Monday to Friday. On occasion you might be required to do help supervise at breakfast and take the kids to school / nursery - but normally one of us would do that - exception would be an early work event. The school run is a 10 min walk, and nursery run is a 5 minute drive up the hill. Availability for babysitting on ad-hoc basis ~ 2 nights / week. Help with light household jobs. We need to define requirements for summer holiday. Full supervision maybe required for son ~ 4 days per week for half of the summer holidays (3 weeks). At the moment we are flexible on timing. Overall relatively short hours and freedom. Ability to step up if one / both of us have to work away overnight (unlikely both of us). In general the kids are fairly adorable, amusing and well behaved, enthusiastic and curious. They get on very well together.
