Personal introduction
Hi, I’m Lauren! I’ve always loved being around children and I’m happiest when I’m getting stuck in, keeping busy and making the most of whatever the day brings. This summer I spent two months at Camp America, where I lived with and looked after 11 girls aged 7–12 in the same cabin! From early mornings and bedtime routines to horse-riding lessons, quads, crafts, games and all the little moments in between, I loved being part of their everyday lives and watching their confidence grow. It was definitely busy, but I loved every minute of it!
I’ve also grown up around horses and have been riding for years, so teaching riding lessons at camp was a huge highlight for me. At home, I’ve had lots of experience helping with younger children and babies through my family too, so I’m comfortable with children of different ages and all the fun, messy and unpredictable moments that come with them!
I’m now looking to become an au pair because I’d love to combine something I genuinely love — working with children — with my love of travelling and experiencing new places. Growing up, both my siblings moved abroad, with my sister going to Australia and my brother to New Zealand, so I’ve always been surrounded by the idea of packing up, trying somewhere new and making a life somewhere completely different. After spending my summer living in America, I’ve realised just how much I love that feeling of being somewhere new. I’d love to become part of a family, get involved in everyday life, explore a new country, meet new people and hopefully create lots of happy memories along the way!
