Becoming an au pair is part of a mandatory work experience abroad I have to complete to validate my university degree. The requirements of this ‘internship’ are the following: going in an Anglo-saxon country (or an English-speaking one), staying for at least 4 weeks, and working (no salary expected) for at least 21 days, no matter the work hours. However, I didn’t want a traditional internship, I wanted something meaningful and immersive. Being an au pair is, in my opinion, the best way to live like a local, improve my English every day, and experience the culture from the inside. It’s a social and human experience where I can learn, share, and help at the same time, and that’s exactly what I’m looking for.
