Dear future host family, My name is Èlia, I’m 18 years old and I come from Alcover, a small town in Catalonia, Spain. I recently moved to Barcelona to begin my university studies in Psychology at the University of Barcelona. I completed my Social Sciences Baccalaureate with an average grade of 9.19 out of 10 and received a distinction for academic excellence. Alongside my studies, I’ve also started my professional training as an actress, which allows me to follow one of my biggest passions. I’m applying to be an au pair because I believe it’s a unique opportunity to grow personally while discovering a new culture. My mum, who is an English teacher and was once an au pair herself, inspired me to take this step. She always spoke about how enriching the experience was, and I hope to create similar memories with a welcoming family abroad. You should host me because I’m responsible, empathetic, and enthusiastic. My studies in psychology have helped me develop strong communication skills, active listening, and adaptability—qualities that I believe are essential when working with children. I genuinely enjoy spending time with kids and creating a safe, fun, and supportive environment for them. I’ve been working with children for several years as a private tutor and English teacher in my hometown, both during the school year and in summer camps. I’ve also volunteered at local festivals and children’s events, organizing games, crafts, workshops, and performances. These experiences have taught me how to connect with children through creativity, play, and emotional understanding. I speak Spanish and Catalan fluently, and I have an advanced level of English (B2), currently preparing for the C1 certification. I feel confident communicating in English in everyday situations and would be happy to help your children practice or learn the language if needed. In my free time, I enjoy reading, singing, running, cooking, crafting, and spending time with family and friends. I’m an active and creative person who values both quiet moments and lively adventures. I believe these qualities make me a well-rounded and engaging au pair. Thank you for considering my application.
