Personal introduction

Dear Au Pair, Thank you for taking the time to read our profile. We are looking for an au pair to join our family and be a good role model, and carer for our young son who is 20 months. We live in a beautiful house just outside of Reading in a place called Caversham. We are only 40 minutes away from London on the train. Our house has 3 stories, and you would have your own private bedroom with use of your own bathroom. We also have two Bengal cats who are very friendly and love adult attention! We are a happy family, and love spending time with our son. He is growing up to be such a charming little boy, who makes us laugh every day! He is into everything, and enjoys most things that we do.

The Au pair's job

We are looking for an Au Pair that can slot into our family, and feel part of the fold. Ideally our Au Pair would be fun, good natured, loving and caring. Someone that is passionate about children and keen to educate them, and encourage them. Someone that respects our wishes as parents. Andy works full time running a couple of businesses. He sometimes works from home but from the study. I am looking to go back to work on a part time basis. I have not yet secured days, however I am looking at returning to work over 3 days. However the days and times have not yet been confirmed. The days that I am at work the Au Pair would be required to most likely work from 8am – 6pm- but in total would be required to do 35 hours a week. The Au Pair would get one day off during the week and then also the weekend. My work sometime allows me to travel for 2/3 days every 4 months or so. Therefore the Au Pair may need to do additional hours, and help my husband out. There will be additional pay for this. The Au Pair will also be asked to babysit one night a week, as part of their “pocket money” and then occasionally we would ask the Au Pair to babysit on a Friday or Saturday night – on these occasions we would pay extra. The Au Pair would be responsible for ensuring that T’s clothes are washed and put away. The Au Pair would also be responsible for keeping tidy T’s bedroom. The Au Pair would be required to give T his breakfast, lunch and dinner on the days that I am at work. We would also ask that when giving T his dinner, the Au Pair has dinner with him too, we would find this beneficial for his social skills and table manners. The Au Pair would need to keep the kitchen tidy, put T’s toys away. The Au Pair would need to keep activities exciting for T. Activities that engage, excite and challenge him. I can provide a list of activities, and places to go. We also plan to let the Au Pair drive my automatic car. We would probably need to look at a limit on mileage etc. We would pay for petrol and the cost for T and the Au Pair to attend activities. The Au Pair would have their own double room on the top floor of the house. The Au Pair would also have their own private bathroom. We can pop a computer in the bedroom which the Au Pair can use the internet/ skype with family and friends and watch TV from. We would be able to provide the Au Pair with a gym membership, as well as haircuts (from Andy’s salon) We have a lovely group of friends and family with small children- they would be just as welcoming to involve yourself and Thomas in their plans. There are also some Au Pair Groups on facebook for local Au Pairs and we are sure you will find an excellent support network. This is the first time we would have welcomed an Au Pair to our home and family. We believe in being open from the very beginning, and making sure that if we don’t like something then we tell the Au Pair, and the same goes the other way – if you don’t like something / don’t feel comfortable then the Au Pair must tell us
