Personal introduction

Our current Au Pair is returning to Hungary in June 2016 after being with us for three years, so we are looking for someone new to join our family in June or July 2016... We are a crazy household. Paul is a Ph.D student, the children usually have friends around. We have two dogs and three cats, and weekends can be very busy with teenagers sleeping over. We like to laugh, especially at each other! The kids are all individuals, Tomas (19) is a uni student who loves loud music and guitars. Stephen is a techy teen loves his computer and gadgets. Alex and Megan are growing fast. James (19) joined our crazy crew a few years back and he's just ace! We are all committed followers of Christ but don't let that put you off us ;) We live a fun life, there is always someone about the home and we are packed in to a very small house in Northwich in Cheshire. As a family we volunteer for many charities, especially for the refugees, Dogs Trust and HappyLarrys. We live a life of love and helpful understanding. We have hosted many au pairs over the years from Denmark, Turkey, France, Czec republic, Germany and our current au pair is from Hungary. We also have close links with the Netherlands where Sams brother used to live for many years, Canada and the U.S. where we both have family and now the Canary Islands where Sam's dad has lives with his Lithuanian partner. Please feel free to send us an email, but please don't phone the number listed as I have had throat surgery and don't speak very well over the phone.

The Au pair's job

Daily routine would be getting the smaller children ready for school, cleaning away breakfast dishes, tidying the mess, laundry and ironing, preparing the meals (simple pasta and rice dishes usually or whatever you like to cook/eat) supervising homework and generally helping out. Giving Sam (the mum) help with medication or mobility issues (Sam is recovering from cancer and has days where she can't leave her bed - and other days where she loves to shop - so its a bit of a lottery). Helping change bedding. The local college runs english classes for non english speakers and we are more than happy to help you to enrol. Also we have a tradition of having our au pairs volunteer at a local charity. It is fantastic for your english language and it gets you out of the house a bit. We also have two other helpers round the house, Lorna helps keep the place clean and tidy, and Alan helps driving Sam and the kids around. So you wont be left to do everything. I feel it's important to give any potential guest of our family this next piece of info, we have a very close family friend who is transgendered (at birth she was categorised a male, now she is categorised as a female). I understand in some cultures and religions this can be a conflict so I prefer to be open and honest now. xxx .
