We are a family with a 10 year old boy, Alasdair, and 7 year old girl, Mairi and a dog, Mungo. We live in a lovely village called Downton in a beautiful area of England on the edge of the New Forest, 7 miles from the city of Salisbury. There are good bus links in to Salisbury, as well as to Bournemouth, a vibrant town with lovely beaches. Alasdair is very active and sporty and loves computer games. Mairi loves arts and crafts, and is always singing and dancing. Mungo the dog is very friendly, loves cuddles, ball play and long walks! We would love to welcome an au pair into our family to help us out, mainly when I am at work, and to allow the children to learn about other countries, languages and cultures. We would be able to offer you an ensuite double bedroom, with wi-fi, as well as use of other facilities within our home. I work as a children nurse and do 2 long shifts a week, both days and nights. The days I work change each week, so we need someone flexible who is happy to have different days off each week. We may also need help at the weekend if I am working, but this would be planned in advance and you would have your days off during the week. We would also be happy for you to take more days off together to enable you to travel around the UK whilst you stay with us.
We would be mainly looking for help on the days I work. This might include looking after the children before and after school, including meal preparation; taking and collecting the children from school; and looking after them until we return from work, including helping them get ready for bed. On days that I am not working, we might need help with some house work, for example, tidying and cleaning the kitchen, tidying and cleaning the playroom, and cleaning the children's bedrooms and bathroom, and general hoovering of communal areas. The children can help with all of this too!! Mungo, the dog, is a big part of family life and he will need walks and ball play sometimes. We would also require babysitting up to 2 times a week and this would be included in your hours, and would be on a work day and planned in advance. We would expect you to work around 25 hours a week, and this will be more on some days than others. You will be able to have at least 2 full days off each week, depending on the hours you work on other days, and as said before these can be planned in advance. We are very happy to be flexible, and for you to be part of our family.
