Personal introduction
I'm Vanessa from Germany
I spend the last 6 months in Spain where I worked with children from 11 months - 3 years and 5 to 12 year old.
After I arrived at home, I discoverd that I don't want to start my study now. Hence I thought it could be a good opportunity to use my collected experience in this field and enhance it.
In Spain I worked in a kindergarten. It's different then the usual kindergarten in Germany because there were children from 10/11 months to 3 years. I gave some basic english lessons including fruits, animals etc.
Due to the hot weather in Spain it wasn't possible to do many outside activities but we were lucky since we had a patio. There we played with tricycles had some water games and took care of the mascot wich is a turtle. Once a week I had a day on the Farm. A group of children came to the farm, we showed the different animales and explained a bit about their lives. I worked 5 hours a day for 4 months in the kindergarten.
Later we organsised a summer camp for children from 5-12 years it started at 8 in the morning till 2 o'clock. 3/4 times a week I gave a english class to 5-7 years old. The rest of the day was about games and the last two hours we went to the swimming pool with the group of 35+ children. The swimmingpool was a major challenge because I had to have an eye on the children and entertain them at the same time. Before I went to Spain I gave voluntarily private tuition with the "Chancenwerk e.V". It was found to help children from underprivileged families to get better in school and reach a higher level of education.
