We are a very active and sporty family with a "mom" from America, a "baba" from Cyprus, three children: 12-year-old boy & girl twins and a 9-year-old boy, and our little dog, Thor! We have lived in the UK for over 16 years so our children were born here. We both work in London 5 days/week. We live in a pretty, green neighborhood next to the Thames river, with train links to London and a Eurostar station with trains to Paris in under 2 hours. We also live next to a major indoor shopping mall with restaurants, cinema and great shopping! The twins are quite self-sufficient now that they are at secondary school, and they usually take the bus to and from school. Our daughter is quite talented in the arts and enjoys playing the piano and singing. She is also on the school's dance and trampoline teams. Her twin brother is an excellent drummer and he is now also learning guitar. He loves football and plays on several football teams. He's also involved in his school's geography club. Our youngest is preparing for a big exam that will take place later this year, so he can hopefully attend the same grammar school as his older siblings. He plays piano like his big sister, and Football like his big brother. He really enjoys his X-box and movies too - we try to make sure he doesn't spend too much time with electronics though, and we will need your help with this! All the children play tennis too. We expect our au pair to be part of our family, like a big sister to our children. We will treat her with respect and we're happy to be flexible, and expect the same in return. Our au pair MUST be an experienced and confident driver. We need our au pair to help ensure the children's health, safety and well-being when we are working. This includes driving the children to and from school, sports and activities. Preparing healthy meals for the children, emptying the dishwasher, helping with the laundry, helping the kids stay organised and taking the dog for a walk are the main daily activities. We are happy for our au pair to attend a language course, visit London, go out with friends, etc when she is not taking care of the children. We will help our au pair get settled and established in the U.K. and we can advise on getting registered for healthcare, opening a bank account, etc. We expect our au pair to be with us for a minimum 6 months if possible. It will be acceptable for our au pair to travel back home or away on short holidays up to 5 days with enough notice so we can arrange alternative care.
