We are a happy young family with 3 children. I am originally from Poland but have been living here for over 13 years. My husband is English. We mainly speak English at home, but the children and my husband understand Polish as well. Our daughter is 7 years old and our eldest son is 4 years old. They are both in full time school. Our youngest son is 20 months old, and goes to a childminder in our village three days a week during school hours. Both my husband and I work full-time in challenging jobs and need help to look after our children and maintain our household. We live in 5 bedroom house in a picturesque village in East Sussex surrounded by beautiful hills within the South Downs National Park close to both Brighton and Lewes. The seaside is just a few kilometres away and London can be reached in just over an hour by train. The village is quite large (around 1,000 people) and has a school that our children attend and there is a pub, but there are no shops, cafes, etc. Lewes is a short drive or long walk away (2km to the centre) and has shops, supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, a library, a castle, and is generally a really pretty, thriving town. From May 2016 (we currently have a female visiting academic living with us for a few months) you would have your own large bedroom, which is situated on the ground floor next to a toilet, which would be for your own private use. All other bedrooms are upstairs, so you will get plenty of privacy. Until May, there is a spare room upstairs where you will live temporarily. We are looking for an organised, self-motivated girl with previous childcare experience, who is willing to help our family. You should enjoy cooking healthy hot meals, keeping a tidy house, and above all love looking after children. You should have a driving licence and be willing to drive small distances occasionally. We would like you to get the 3 children ready in the morning. Get them changed, fed and take them to school for 8.40am. You would then pick them up from school at 3.15pm, cook & feed them dinner, oversee homework, bathe them and prepare them for bed. At the moment our youngest son is cared for by a childminder in the village Tuesday to Thursday at her house. Therefore, on Mondays and Fridays you would be in sole charge of our youngest son during school hours. He tends to have very long naps after lunch, so you will get a break! During the day on Tuesday to Thursday while the children are at school/ childminder preparation of meals for the family for the rest of the week and general housework would be expected, but there should be ample opportunity for a day or even two off if you are organised. We have a Thermomix which is great for making meals, soups, etc without much effort :) On Saturdays we would like some help from approximately 10am to 4pm, so that my husband and I have time to do food shopping, maintain the garden, etc. Occasional babysitting on Friday or Saturday nights is needed. If you would like to earn extra money during your time off, there are often people in our village needing babysitters. Your Sundays would be completely free. We go on regular holidays abroad during school holidays (we have just got back from a skiing holiday and will probably be going to Spain and Bulgaria/ Croatia in summer) and we would pay for your flights, accommodation, food, etc if we all agreed that it would be good for you to come with us on a particular holiday. We understand that our expectations are more than a lot of host families, as both my husband and I work full-time in challenging jobs, but this will be reflected in a weekly rate well above normal for an Au Pair.
