We are a happy and friendly family of 3 (Valentina is 5 year old) living in a lovely and safe small town called Reigate (Surrey) which is only 30 minutes by train from either London Victoria or London Bridge stations. It has a lovely big park, a high street with lots of nice shops and little cafes and lots of local au pairs who u could meet. Our 3 bedroom house is just 10 mins walk from the town centre and railway station. Gatwick Airport is also 20 mins by train. We both work full time but we are very sociable and love to spend the weekend with our little one in the countryside or with friends when possible. I'm a medical doctor working in the hospital while my husband is a software engineer working for a company in Central London. We tend to spend our weekday evenings relaxing: we all have dinner together cooked by our italian 'chef' Luca and enjoy having a chat about the daytime events and different topics as many good Italian family will do. We strongly believe in spending quality time together as a family and we are indeed looking for someone to be part of our family and to be like a big sister for Valentina Valentina is a very cheerful and bright little girl very caring and affectionate. She loves singing , dancing as well as spending time in the park.She has always got on very well with our previous au pair who are still very fond of her.
We need someone able to work flexibly 25-30 hours a week: Valentina will be starting school (year 1) this September. She will be at school from 8.45am to 3pm Monday to friday. We need you to help us to get her ready for school and to take her to school. This means for you to wake up at 7 every morning and help her with her breakfast and clothing.The school is a 15 minutes walk from where we live. You will have to collect Valentina from the school promptly at 15.00 hours and look after her until we do come back (usually around 6.45pm).This means feeding her (preparing a light lunch or a snack if she had lunch at school) ,helping her with her homework and playing with her. We are living very close to Priory park and if the weather is good you could bring Valentina to the park too. We look after Valentina most of the evening and weekends .We do expect you to help with some light house works and to clean after yourself. Very rarely we might need help in the evening or for a few hours during the weekend (e.g. if I am on call). We will pay you £ 90 pound pocket money weekly for 25-30 hours a week Au Pair position, and also pay for your food and accommodation. Talking about holidays: you would be entitled to 4 weeks of holidays in a year. For obvious reasons we would like you to take your holidays when we are off work. We are planning to spread our holidays throughout the year .If you need to be off at a specific time of the year we can try to accommodate you taking time off at work (just let us know this well in advance – I need at least 8 weeks notice to be able to take time off work!) We understand it may take a while for you to get used to us and the UK. There would be a trial period of 3-4 weeks, following this if you wish to leave this position we need you to give us 4 to 6 weeks notice. We do heavily rely on having an au pair to run our life: we would appreciate someone being honest with us from the beginning and taking seriously such commitment if they are willing to join our family. WE have managed to overlap our au pair for few days as a gentle introduction to our family life, Valentina and her habits, the neighbourhood as well as to help the new au pair to build up a good social network. We live in Reigate (East Surrey)very close to the town centre. Our family home is a 3 bedroom semi-detached house. We can offer you a bedroom but you will be sharing the bathroom with all of us. In the house there is also a separate downstairs toilet. We have a lovely garden too. Internet access and skype would be freely available as well as free phone calls to a landline to Italy and some other European countries .We are also providing you with a mobile phone sim card and a mobile phone contract with unlimited internet access and some free UK calls. Nearby where we live there is the ”East Surrey College” which organises ESOLS and other courses: we are well aware of your need of improving your English and we will make sure you do attend your English classes in the morning or late afternoon.
