We are a friendly, happy family with twin girls aged 5. We are looking for someone who would like to stay at least a year, to help look after the girls while we are at work. The girls are starting school in September 2017. We are looking for someone who either had previous experience or has strong affinity with children, who is responsible and reliable, and who can provide checkable references. We are looking for somebody with initiative, who wants to help to make things run smoothly. We have had au-pairs since the girls' 1st birthday. Our previous au-pairs were very happy staying with us, and they would be happy talk to prospective au-pairs about their experience. We are university lecturers, and we live in the lovely town of Guildford in south east England, with fast and frequent trains to central London (35 min to London Waterloo station, every 15 mins). Guildford is a university town and has lots to offer: theatres, cinema, many sports and leisure centres with swimming pools and ice skating, and a lot of beautiful countryside for walks and outdoor activities. There is plenty to do. We live in a 4-bedroom house with a sunny south-east facing garden, and our house is full of light. There is a lovely park nearby, and a gym that is only 5 min walk away. One of the rooms will be au-pair's, and there is a shared family bathroom and an additional toilet. We have WiFi and unlimited internet access. Your main responsibility will be childcare while we are at work, and some light housework to help maintain general house hygiene. We have a cleaner once a week as well. The girls will be in school full-time (till 3pm) from mid-September. You will need to get them ready for school, drop them off, then pick them up at 3pm and look after them till 5pm or 6pm (it will vary), until one of us returns from work. Baby-sitting will be needed for a couple of nights per week, on average. One of these nights may be on the weekend (but not necessarily every weekend). You will be free at weekends except for these occasional baby-sitting nights. If you wish, you can attend English classes. There are many courses running in town that you could consider. there are also other courses that you may want to consider. While driving isn't necessary, being able to drive would be an advantage. We are looking for somebody with initiative, who wants to help to make things run smoothly. We will take equal pleasure in helping you to get all you can from the experience of living in a new culture.
