Professional American couple with a lovely 3.5 year old son in London, UK require a live-in. Our current childcare arrangements are ending – we have had a Greek part-time student/au pair for the last three years who has been wonderful and has become an integral part of our family. Now that she is finishing school, she will be embarking on a new adventure. The au pair/nanny will be responsible for all tasks related to the child. The nanny will assist the parents in childcare and serve as a loving, nurturing and trustworthy companion to child. She will take the child to school, play dates, and if possible, continue to teach him Greek. Traveling with the family in Europe, the US, and Asia will be expected. The mother works part of her time from the house, and because of her schedule often requires childcare at night or to take the child and the au pair on work trips to the US. The father travels a lot for work, and is away approximately for half the month.
Major Responsibilities ¥ Create a stimulating, nurturing, and safe environment for the child ¥ Supervise the child’s activities at all times ¥ Plan and prepare meals for, and feed, the child as needed ¥ Dress and bathe the child ¥ Place the child down for bedtime on occasion ¥ Perform housework that is related to child care, eg. washing child’s clothes, cleaning after meals, tidying play areas, etc ¥ Teach the child good social manners, and play with the child, both indoors and outdoors ¥ Assist with educational activities, including reading, with the child ¥ Assistance with the child when the family travels for holiday and work ¥ Plan playdates Requirements ¥ Some experience caring for child ¥ Training in early childhood education preferred ¥ English language skills, Greek skills preferable ¥ Reliable, honest, and trustworthy ¥ Physical ability to care for a young child ¥ Ability to plan, organize, and multitask with minimal supervision Compensation The salary will be flexible based on experience and qualifications and time which is also dependent on when he is in school or on vacation. Housing, meals, travel with the family, and one round trip ticket home per year is also included. We provide paid vacation time off at 3 weeks per year. During school time, the au pair/nanny will have considerable free time (school hours are between 9am-3pm). During holidays, we expect the au pair/nanny to work full time and will be compensated at a higher rate. The work week is from Monday – Saturday but we are flexible with giving time off.
