Our family is made up of Faith (mum), Mark (dad), Sarah (aged 12), James (aged 9) and Rosie (aged 4). And Flash our small dog (9 months). Faith works 3-4 days each week in the regulation of Financial Services, and often travels to London. Mark works in Project Management and often travels to different places. Sarah has just finished her first year of secondary school and is doing very well. James goes to a small school in a local village in the countryside. Rosie will be starting in the same school in September and is very excited! The children love going swimming and going to the park. Sarah loves ballet. James likes football and reading and Rosie likes people! We live in the town of Exmouth which is on one of the most beautiful pieces of coast in Britain - we live 20 minutes walk from the beach. There are lots of activities locally such as walking, watersports, volleyball, swimming, cycling. It is a great area for running and sports. We are also 30 minutes drive away from Exeter which is a very picturesque city with lots of shopping and historic places of interest. We enjoy being together as a family, and you would be very welcome to join with us. We often go out for walks, or spend time on the beach, or go for coffee. We are also involved in a local church where we have lots of friends - we tend to have lots of visitors throughout the week so things are rarely boring! Faith and Mark are also involved in a music band and often play in local pubs which is lots of fun.
We are looking for someone to join in with our family and help out around the house and looking after the children. We need someone who can fit in around Faith's work which is flexible. We of course will also fit in around any commitments you may have, such as English lessons or other regular activities. For the 3 days a week that Faith is working you would help by taking James and Rosie to school and picking them up in the car. You would also need to prepare them meals on these days. Flash, our little dog, also needs regular walks, cuddles and simple training exercises (we want him to be a polite and well behaved little dog!). We would also agree 2-3 nights babysitting each week - again we would agree these with you in advance. We are happy to work with you to find out how else you would like to help around the family, but we need help with cleaning and washing. We encourage our au pairs to make friends locally and to take up hobbies and do English lessons. Faith works part time so there will be time in the week for you to plan your own activities. If you're interested there may be opportunities for volunteering at the Pre-School or at the Primary School where the children go to school. Previous au pairs have volunteered at school, worked at a local charity and finished dissertations for university.
