Introduction personnelle

We are the Rowe Family and we have 2 girls, Lyla aged 4 and Maisey who is 22 months. Our 3rd child, a boy, is due Mid August. The girls are very active and sociable with big personality's! They can be very sweet and caring and play together very well and sometimes not so well! we also provide a good discipline for them which is needed at times. My husband is called Simon and works in the city not far from home as an IT professional. I am Sophie and a full time mum. We are in our mid 30's and enjoy family life with all the challenges and hard work it brings, we do our best to make it as fun and rewarding as possible. We live very close to the centre of London, the nearest overground station is Honor Oak Park and Forest Hill. From there you can be at London Bridge in 15 minutes, and it is on route to the underground lines which can get you around the centre of London very easily. There are also very good bus links to the west end. There are plenty of things to see and do in London, museums, parks, music, theatre, restaurants and bars all in abundance. As I am sure you already know. More locally to us there are lovely parks and a museum and observatory too, some nice cafes and villages nearby. We are surrounded by young families like ourselves many of which have nannies, childminders or au-pairs. There is a strong sense of community where we live, lots of things to do, activities for children, festivals, libraries, music and dance classes. All of which I take the girls to on a daily basis. At home we enjoy our house and garden. We have a large kitchen with all the modern u

Le travail de l'Au pair

A normal week for us would be to get the girls up and dressed, breakfast ready then Simon goes to work. I would take lyla to nursery 3 days a week and look after Maisey taking her to local activities and play groups and social visits with friends and family. I have a timetable I stick to to make sure I can fit all social activities in around paid for events like swimming and music class. I pick Lyla up from nursery at 5pm cook dinner, by then Simon comes home at 6pm to help with bath time and bed. Household duties - we have a cleaner that comes once a week to thoroughly clean, however, there is a fair amount of daily housework to do such as putting washing on and hanging it up, cleaning the floors and surfaces after meal times, cooking, hoovering occasionally, sweeping around the front door. Cleaning muddy boots, tidying the playroom and garden at the end of the day. These tasks are second nature when looking after children and all of which I can show you and will need help with. It is more a case of using initiative to see what needs to be done, I try not to think of them as chores! A lot will change by September as the baby would have arrived and my eldest daughter, Lyla, will be starting school. This is when I will need the most help. Ideally you will be able to drive her there and take Maisey with you. You could walk although it will take 25 mins and pushing a double buggy can be hard work. It depends how fit you are. There may be days that Simon can take Lyla to school depending on his shift work, later when the baby is a nit older I can also help with the morning school run. The new born will take up a lot of my time in the mornings, so although I will always be around I may have to leave you in charge of Maisey to keep yourselves busy either playing at home doing some housework or out to the playground or shops. Newborns are hard work for the first few months, however things should change quite quickly when the baby sleeps more. Although there are local shops walking distance, we can teach you how to use the car so you feel confident getting around, we do not live in central London so it is not difficult to drive. There are lots of hills where we live so sometimes getting around can be tricky pushing a pram. We drive an automatic. There are numerous language schools in London for an afternoon or evening class. There is a local college to us to which is starting courses in September, I can give you more information on that. We would encourage you to go out and meet friends like yourself and have fun to get the full experience. So it would be good in your free time to be independent and confident in getting around to explore and take on an adventure.
