Dear future au-pair, we are a family of 4: David: father (English), Gerlinde: mother (Austrian), Anna: 9 years old and Oliver (6 years old.) We live in leafy Wimbledon in South-West London with excellent access to all amenities and transport links into central London (15 mins by train). We have had au-pairs for over 5 years now and have remained friends with many of our previous au-pairs. All au-pairs came from Germany so far and many have typically had a background in teaching or similar. I (Gerlinde) was an au-pair myself twice and therefore I know 'both' sides very well. I think it is a wonderful way to learn a language, different country and culture. About us David is a dentist and has recently opened his own dental practice in the city. He likes to cook, and in fact prepares the majority of the family meals (except for Spaghetti Bolognese which is Gerlinde's speciality); he is an excellent cook and we all like to eat well and healthy. In his free time he likes to spend time with his family - in particular to go to the seaside. (David grew up near the seaside himself). Gerlinde is a client relations manager and works in the city. In her free time she enjoys fitness/running and socialising and of course to spend time with Anna and Oli. We are members of the National Trust and like to go on day trips on weekends. Sometimes the au-pairs come with us and experience a piece of Great Britain. Anna attends the local primary school and likes to play with her friends and little brother. We expect our au-pair primarily to look after all of the children's needs whilst we are at work all day during the week. This entails getting the children ready for school in the morning, picking them up in the afternoon, doing homework and giving them supper. We also expect our au-pair to help with some housework. The working time amounts to approx. 30 hours per week. Weekends are generally free. We ask our au-pair to speak German to our children exclusively, however English is spoken with the parents. Overall, we would like to invite a responsible, independent and patient au-pair who truly enjoys working with young children to join our family for some time. A good sense of humour is also good to have. We look forward to hearing from you if you would like to be part of our family!
