We are a friendly but busy family who lived in New Zealand until last September but have recently moved over to be near Laura's parents for a few years. Both Jason and Laura have travelled a lot and enjoy all sports. We love spending time with our two boys who are both energetic, lively and enthusiastic. Our youngest has a great sense of humour and our eldest is passionate about dinosaurs, his friends and learning about the world. We know that being an au pair is an experience in itself and hope that being part of our family, our au pair will be able to find out about our country and culture whilst working. We are looking for someone who is: Confident,someone who is able to be firm but fair with the boys; Responsible and trustworthy; able to keep the boys safe when looking after them at home and when out or taking them to school. Proactive so able to do things in the house or help the boys without waiting to be asked. A good, experienced driver - this is essential;Energetic -the boys are both very active; Flexible and able to fit in with our busy lifestyle; Optimistic; Independent so they will make their own friends here in the UK and able to cook. Our current au pair has been with us for a year now but is moving despite being very happy. She has had a job in a bar which worked around working for us, so there are other opportunities to earn money whilst here. Eastbourne is on the South coast by the beautiful South Downs and there are direct trains to Gatwick and London.
The focus of our au pair will be our sons. They will need to: Take the boys to school,(the school is not far away but you will need to be able to drive safely and confidently) Pick them up in the afternoon, Cook supper for the family and help with homework, Be proactive and creative when playing with the boys. Some housework will be required and we will sometimes ask you to babysit. We do not always need you during school holidays so if you intend to travel in the UK and Europe this would suit the role as well.
