Hi! We are a married couple - Gerald & Kaoru - in our mid-thirties, with a son Yuji who will be 4 years old in April. We are looking for a Japanese au pair. We live in Hertford, a lovely old market town, which has many shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, a library, a theatre/cinema, gyms, a swimming pool, parks and rivers. It is easily accessible to London with a frequent, direct train service (the train station is 5 minutes walk from our house), but you can also escape to the countryside within 10 minutes. Yuji is a fun little character! He's funny, playful, quite calm-natured and he mostly behaves very well! He loves playing with his Tomica Plarail train set, Lego blocks, reading books together, going to the park and playing chasing games! He will be starting school in September which would mean Monday-Friday he'd be there from the morning until mid-afternoon. He also currently attends a swimming class, children's gym and music class. Our au pair will have their own double bedroom with cable TV, DVD player and wifi and will also have access to a mobile phone and a car. My wife and I are both professional classical musicians working in orchestras in London. Our working hours include some evenings and weekends, but vary each week. We do usually know our schedules a week or two (or more) in advance though. Our au pair would also have lots of free days! Kaoru is Japanese and I am English and so we are bringing our son up speaking both languages. My wife speaks entirely to Yuji in Japanese, which we hope our au pair will do too. We would hope that our au pair would be active and take an initiative with Yuji in visiting places and doing activities, whether they are indoor or outdoor, fun or educational. You would need to be able to prepare simple, healthy, freshly cooked meals for Yuji when appropriate & helping occasionally with light housework would be appreciated (although we have a cleaner who comes to the house every 2 weeks).
