Dear aupair, Family live in lovely country area, they have a special needs son who has Downs Syndrome but is very easy to deal with.
we are the Holt family are we live in a big old house in Derbyshire - which is right in the centre of England. Our house is in a village but there are several towns close by and it is only 20 minutes by car into the city of Derby. It is a beautiful, green and hilly area so if you like walking and exploring you will really like it here. The train to London only takes 90 minutes if you want to see the sights there. Dad Jonathan (50) is an engineer working for Rolls-Royce making aeroplane engines. He enjoys developing our large and very lovely garden. Your own bedroom overlooks out on the garden and there is a shared bathroom. There is internet access. Mum Dawn (50) is planning on going back to work as a manager after 15 years at home with the children and working part time. We have never had an au pair before so this will be an adventure for us too. But we are used to having people to stay. Jacob is 15 and will be doing important exams in May 2015. He likes computers and plays the violin. In 2012/13 he did an extended French exchange where he was in France for 6 months with Hugo then Hugo was here for 6 months. Samuel is 13 and at the same school as Jacob. He likes computer games and making Lego models and he plays the flute. In 2012/13 he did an extended German exchange where Leo was with us for 5 months he was in Germany for 5 months with Leo. But the main member of the family you will be working with is Reuben who is 8 and has Down's Syndrome. Reuben is very cute and happy and enthusiastic. Everyone seems to love him. Reuben goes to our local school but has a teaching assistant to help him all the time. At home Reuben needs someone to keep him stay safe and also help him get dressed, keep an eye on him as he eats and take him to the toilet. Reuben's speech isn't very clear, although he understands what other people say. He's very good at swimming and goes for a lesson every week. He likes relaxing , watching TV or playing on his i-pad and he likes bouncing on the big trampoline or playing on the swing in our garden. Reuben is 8 years old: We would like you to look after Reuben for an hour before walking him the 4 minutes to school, to do some light house work and to look after Reuben after school either from 15.15 or from 17.00 when he has been elsewhere after school. We would also like you to cook a simple meal 2 or 3 times a week for the whole famiy so someone interested in cooking would be helpful. We would like help with general cleaning and tidying and some laundry and ironing. We would like someone who can drive so that you can take Reuben to his swimming lessons, pop to the shops for a bit of shopping and - most importantly - borrow a car in the evening or at a weekend a lot of the time if you want. We will give you some practice driving here until you are confident about driving on the left and finding your way around first though.We need a confident person to help with Rueben as he can be a bit stubborn and he needs to clearly understand what is being asked of him. We are nice and helpful people and will do our best to help you settle in and feel at home and would like to include you on outings and holidays. We will organise languag
