Dear Host Family,
My name is Derby Nasambu Khisa, a 25-year-old from Kenya. I grew up in a loving and supportive family, an environment that shaped me into a responsible, empathetic, and grounded young woman.
I hold a Bachelor of Education (Arts) in Geography and Mathematics and have gained valuable experience working in schools. I am currently a teaching assistant at a British international school, where I support children aged 5 to 13 from over 20 different nationalities. This has strengthened my intercultural communication skills, patience, and ability to adapt to different personalities and needs.
My motivation for becoming an au pair comes from my genuine love for children. Working with them brings me joy and fulfillment—whether I am guiding them academically, helping with homework, organizing fun activities, or supporting their daily routines. I also enjoy light household chores and keeping the home tidy. I have a valid driving license and can also ride a bicycle, making it easy for me to assist with transportation.
I believe I am a strong candidate because of my education background, hands-on childcare experience, and warm personality. I have worked with children of different ages and cultures and understand how to create a safe, structured, and positive environment. My training as a teacher gives me a strong understanding of child development, discipline, creativity, and learning styles.
What sets me apart from other applicants is my combination of professional teaching experience, multicultural exposure, and genuine compassion for children. I am dependable, patient, adaptable, and committed to being a positive role model. Families who choose me can trust that their children will be cared for with love, understanding, and consistency.
Thank you for considering my application. I am excited about the opportunity to learn from your family, share my culture, and create lasting memories together. I cannot wait to meet you and your children.
Many thanks.
Derby
