*Update* Apologies! We are rethinking our childcare options at the moment - so not currently actively looking for a placement. (Husband not totally comfortable with a stranger in the house!) (Wish he'd told me before I paid for membership :) ) We are a small family consisting on Mum, Dad and one boy of 12 years. My son has Higher Functioning Autism with limited communication skills. If you are interested in working with people with autism he would be an easy introduction. He’s quite a character, his funny sayings and cheeky sense of humour make him popular in mainstream and special needs settings alike. We both work in IT and IT is very popular with our son too. We are pretty quiet people – our interests include IT (of course!), walking in the lovely countryside where we live and films / cinema. When we have more time, we like to explore the UK - our son is very keen on visiting London (and travelling on the London Underground!) You should be calm, mature in outlook, reliable, organised - interested in people with special needs (hopefully) :) and a good communicator. A good sense of humour would help too!
We need you to be home at 1530 each week day when our son gets home from school, give him his evening meal, perhaps help with a homework task and keep him company until 1630 - 1830 when we get home from work. We would like you to babysit on a weekday evening once or twice a month. Perhaps once a month it would be useful if you could give my son his breakfast and see him off on his transport to school. Minimal housework - only what would be expected in a normal houseshare.
