Dear au pair, Hi! We are really looking forward to welcoming an au pair to join our busy, happy family for a year or more. Let me tell you a little more about us. My name is Karen and I’m the mum. I’m a management consultant, which takes me all over Europe and I’m often away from home four days a week. I also write for Horse and Hound and have written 4 books in aid of charity. I have a horse called Hovis, a Clydesdale cross, who is the love of my life. He’s looked after in the week by a lovely girl who’s a nanny for a local family so it’s someone to help you who knows the ropes. If you want to learn to ride or ride already then you can ride whilst you’re with us. I love riding, swimming, all outdoor pursuits and going out having fun. My husband is Brian. He’s a construction manager building anything from houses to massive warehouses or office blocks. He enjoys all outdoor pursuits, music and watching rugby. He has a keen interest in military history, rides (loves cross country) and is always one for going out and having a good time. Brian is a wiz at all DIY and is always in the garden or the paddock making new things for Lily to play on. Our daughter is Lily; she’s nearly 5 years old. She is a lively little girl, full of fun and mischief. She loves animals, doing painting and crafts and going on days out. She loves meeting new people and trying new things; she’s currently taking riding lessons and enjoys swimming too. She currently attends a private school in Newark 5 days a week. Get Lily up, dressed, feed her breakfast and then take her to school for 0845. Light house work as required (washing/ ironing) Fetch Lily from school at 1545, bring her home and prepare her tea.
