Personal introduction

Dear Au Pair, We are looking for a friendly, organised, reliable and kind person to look after our lovely daughter Libby who is 13, our 2 crazy dogs and our house. We would like someone who would like to become a part of our family during their stay with us. We need someone able to start early April and to stay for a minimum of 9 months - but preferably longer. We live in Berkhamsted which is a lovely town North of London. It has lots of cafes, restaurants and shops as well as a Sports Centre and a fantastic boutique cinema. There are parks, a library and lots of other local facilities - even a castle! It’s only 30 minutes on the train to London and the station is less than 10 minutes walk from our house. We have a beautiful home and you will have your own large bedroom with a flat screen TV and DVD player, wi-fi and en-suite bathroom. The room is accessed by its own separate staircase so it is very private. There is a large network of Au Pairs and Nannies in the town so it will be easy for a friendly, sociable person to make friends. There are also English courses available locally. About us Libby is very mature for her age and is not a typical 'moody teenager'. She can be a little shy at first but once she knows you she is very friendly. She enjoys playing the guitar and singing, reading, and baking lovely cakes and cookies. She needs to be encouraged to not spend all her free time on the Xbox, Ipad or the computer. It would be great for you to be her ‘big sister’ and do activities together. She's a typical girl and does like shopping, clothes, hair and make-u

The Au pair's job

We are looking for someone who is confident, organised, friendly, clean, tidy and caring. A reasonable level of spoken English is required. We need someone who likes dogs and is happy to dog sit as well as look after Libby. We basically need our au pair to help Libby get organised for school (which is walking distance from our home), supervise homework and prepare an evening meal for her. Your main duties will be to take care of the house, keeping it clean and tidy, doing laundry and preparing healthy meals. This position requires very little childcare so you'll have quite a lot of free time but you need to be organised but flexible. You will work approx 28 hours per week and baby sit or dog sit occasionally. We have been lucky enough to have had several lovely au pairs over the past 8 years some of which we still see regularly as they come to visit us. We hope to hear from you soon and welcoming you into our family.
