We are a friendly and relaxed working family based in the vibrant coastal city of Brighton UK. be and London is just one hour away. Our house is on the top of a hill in the city with beautiful sea views. The town centre and the beach can be reached on foot within 15 minutes or 5 minutes on the bus. Brighton is famous for its rich and diverse culture and many students come from all over the world to learn English at one of the many language schools here. Surrounding the city is the beautiful South Downs national park, which can be reached from our house by bike or bus or on foot. We're working parents, I am a criminal lawyer and my husband runs his own business in Brighton. Our children are a girl (Niamh) aged 7, a boy (Lucien) aged 5 and another little boy (Rufus) aged 20 months. Niamh is a kind, calm and thoughtful little girl. She's my little helper. She loves Irish dancing, reading books and doing arts and crafts. She has a very wicked and dry sense of humour for a 7 year old, it's great! Lucien is a little live wire, full of ideas and opinions and creativity. He loves practicing Tae kwondo, reading books about animals (reptiles are a big favourite!) and building crazy little robots out of Lego. Rufus is really forming his own personality now. He doesn't realise that he is so small and he tries to do what the older children do, and often he succeeds! He is a real little cutie and very loving. We would like an au pair to share our home and become a friend and family member to us and our children, but we are also happy for our au pair to have the space, time and privacy they may need. The accommodation we provide is on a separate floor of our house and it has its own en suite bathroom . We would like somebody loving and playful who will have fun with our children (our children respond well to humour, the sillier the better!) Our children need an au pair who will be energetic and fun, but who will also have rules and who can calmly set boundaries if needed. It would be great if our au pair could teach the children some French and of course we will all help you with your English. previous childcare experience is a must. We will need our older children picked up from school 3 days per week (Monday- Wednesday). The school is a short walk from our house, but the children do have some after school activities. We also need help caring for our younger child 3 days per week (Monday - Thursday). We will both be working - but we both spend some time working from our home rather than the office, so we will be around for significant periods. We will also need our au pair to do some light cleaning and household duties, such as help with the laundry and some hoovering and general tidying. If however it is a choice between housework or giving the children attention, then we would always want the children to win (that is our own approach). The evenings and weekends and at least one day in the week (usually 2) will always be free and we are happy for our Au Pair to hang out with us and accompany us on family outings and excursions. Equally we would encourage our au pair to pursue their own interests and activities, explore the UK if they wish, or to take a language course (we are happy to help with registration and getting you settled). And most of all to enjoy all of the fun and diverse activities that Brighton offers.
