Personal introduction

We live in a large beachside town, the sea is a couple minute walk from our house. The basic explanation is you would be looking after the children for a couple of days every two weeks. I work in a coal mine, I am away for seven (7) days then home for seven days. I leave on a Wednesday and come home on a Wednesday. My children go to school five (5) days a week , Monday to Friday and on the weekend ( Saturday to Sunday) that I am at work the children spend with their father. So school starts at around 830 am and finishes at 300pm . On the Friday the children are driven by the au pair to meet with the father and the au pair drives home. It's about one hour and twenty minutes drive out there (120 minutes). It's a easy drive, and I have a navigational system for the car. So while I'm at work, you will supervising the children from Wednesday night to Friday night, then on Sunday afternoon you will do the same drive to pick them up. Then again they will be in your care to the Wednesday , ( Sunday night, Monday and Tuesday). Then you will have seven days off, your free time to do as you wish, then the following Wednesday it starts again. On the days the children are in your care, they catch the bus to and from school. Then mainly making sure they do their chores and homework. Then cooking the night time meal for them (dinner) , they make their own breakfast and lunches for school and the oldest jade washes their school clothes.

The Au pair's job

I only require the au pair to do minimal cleaning, mostly just making sure the children pick up after themselves, I will do all the cleaning and cooking when I am home. We are very flexible on arrangements as we have had au pairs for the last few years and we understand what it can be like for the au pairs. You have a car to use at all times, your own room with a television as well, we also have Internet which you can hook into as well. The main points with the au pair that I look for is confidence in driving and the ability to cook for the children while I'm away. I'm always available to talk and can help you in any way I can. It's a brave thing to move across the country into a strange place with people you don't know, and I admire the women and men ( we have had one male au pair) that take these positions . I hope I have been clear and you are able to understand my explanations . If you have any questions you might have please feel comfortable to ask. I might seem like a confusing life that we have, but trust me, it's very easy once you are used to it. The children are a great support to the au pairs as well. Especially jade, she has been a huge help to all our au pairs, they are affectionate and funny when they get to know you, they still can argue with each other, and sometimes question you, but mostly they are well behaved . I hope this has been some help into understanding our little family and look forward to talking with you
