Hi, We are a friendly family living beside the seaside, we have had au pairs living with us very happily for the last 5 years and are now looking for our next au pair. Three beautiful young ladies need a friendly and enthusiatic new au pair who will act as surrogate mum, big sister and friend. You need to be mature and confident enough to look after the girls alone sometimes as I travel for work, you must also be able to drive. We live in the idyllic Isle of Wight, this is a great place to live if you like the outdoors with plenty of sailing, cycling and walking right on our doorstep (swimming in the sea too when you're feeling brave). You will need to be a sociable person as there aren't many aupairs here. London is 2.5 hours away, the nearest city to us is Southampton which is just across the water. The girls are all at local schools and are very active in sports, music and other social activities, you will therefore need to take the children to activities and assist with their day to day care including getting up, getting to school, mealtimes, homework, playtime, bathtime, going to bed. You will be expected to do housework and ironing which takes about 5 hours per week. We keep in touch with many previous au pairs, some return for a second period or just for a visit to say hello, so plenty of opportunity for you to speak with previous au pairs to get a real feel for what it is like to join our family.
School term time Help with breakfast, make pack lunches, get girls off to school on time. During the school day through the week do the housework and ironing (5 hours per week in total). After school help with homework, cook tea, relax and have some fun, take to activities (e.g. Brownies/Guides, Dancing, Swimming, Youth Club, Netball), get ready/go to bed. As previously mentioned there will be occasions when you will have sole charge of the children overnight. There is plenty of opportunity to attend college when the girls are at school. The type of housework you are expected to perform includes; dusting, vacuuming, mopping floors, cleaning bathroom and kitchen, changing bedlinen, doing washing occasionally, doing the ironing, putting out the rubbish. Helping to care for the family pets (2 rabbits and 1 goldfish). You have 2 days off per week when you are free to spend time with us or go out and do your own thing. We are happy for you to have friends to stay when pre-agreed with us and for you to stay out, we will treat you with respect and expect the same in return. The children all know that the au pair has authority and we have never had any problems, except for the occasional bout of homesickness. School holidays - I always take my vacation during the holidays so I am at home for about half of the holidays, you are free to take time off then or spend time with us.
